Winding down and winding up

I am oddly, quietly unsettled. The rhythm of my week subtly altered into indolent mornings.

I eke out the adrenaline fix delivered in three precisely measured doses. Make it last.

My body instinctively wakes early to lately unfamiliar brightness.

Taunted by the cool crisp morning, I slip out silently. Breathe the promise of fresh air, clinging to the fading days of summer.

A taut twitch of absence. Core deep. Delicious pain.

I retreat to torpid dozing. Hibernate in my waiting state.
